The Prodigy Plots First NY Show Since 2009

U.K. electronic outfit the Prodigy will play its first show in New York since 2009 when it descends upon Under the K Bridge Park on Sept. 25 — the day before the previously announced CBGB Festival at the same venue. Brutalismus 3000, Sextile and Lip Critic will open; Click here for tickets.

Best known for its 1997 album The Fat of the Land, which spawned the hits “Firestarter” and the controversial “Smack My Bitch Up,” the Prodigy have persevered following the 2019 death of core member Keith Flint. The group, which now includes founding members Liam Howlett and Maxim, has toured regularly since 2022 and is working on the follow-up to its 2018 album No Tourists.

“You need to see the Prodigy. You need to be there in front of us,” Howlett told SPIN last year. “There’s no substitute for that. And especially in the world we live in now, with all this fucking streaming and whatever. I’m old school as far as standing in front of a band, seeing people sweat and wiping their eyes. That’s what it’s about.”

After appearing tomorrow (May 16) in Las Vegas at Electric Daisy Carnival, the Prodigy will tour Europe and the U.K. through August. Performances at U.S. festivals Shaky Knees, Louder Than Life and Sick New World are on tap in the fall.

As previously reported, the CBGB Festival will feature Morrissey, Patti Smith, Interpol, the Sex Pistols with Frank Carter and Bikini Kill.
