U2 Boards School Bus At Mexico City Video Shoot

U2’s Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. were spotted atop a school bus in Mexico City yesterday (May 12) filming a video for a new song called “Street of Dreams,” which is expected to appear on the band’s still-unannounced next studio album due later this year.

Mexico City is also hosting the 2026 Street Child World Cup this week, an international soccer tournament focused on youth experiencing homelessness and extreme poverty. Mullen acknowledged the connection in a statement, calling the event “a little NGO with a big kick for kids with all of the talent and none of the access,” adding that “our band are proud supporters.”

Visually, the Mexico City shoot appears to continue U2’s longstanding fascination with urban iconography and public spectacle — fitting for a group that once transformed supermarket rooftops, Las Vegas spheres and downtown intersections into impromptu stages.

U2’s upcoming album is the long-awaited follow-up to 2017’s Songs of Experience, but the band has not been shy about dropping new music in recent months in the form of the surprise EPs Days of Ash and Easter Lily. In a note to fans, Bono described the band as being deep in “wilderness years,” still working toward a “noisy, messy” full-length album meant for the stage. In the meantime, the EPs are meant to function as raw, thematic snapshots from the veteran Irish quartet.

As previously reported, Bono will join Bruce Springsteen for a June 13 conversation at the Tribeca Festival, during which the Boss will receive the Harry Belafonte Voices for Social Justice Award. Additional tributes from Robert De Niro and Patti Smith are also on tap.
